Quick and Dirty Secrets of College Success: A Professor Tells It All

What does it take to motivate a student to greatness? This is the question being asked by college administrators across the country, who find that there are some students who seem all too determined to commit themselves to mediocrity. Educational opportunities are lost, resources are wasted and destinies are left unfulfilled.
But part of the key is to get to students early and to hit them hard with a message that can set their minds on fire. They need a guide who knows the ropes and is willing to tell them secrets that will demystify the college experience, as well as help them to see its value.

Dr. Boyce Watkins can do that, and he’s willing to tell all the secrets that other professors don’t like to share.

Dr. Watkins, who has taught at the college level for 20 years, is the author of the popular books, “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about College,” and “Quick and Dirty Secrets of College Success: A Professor Tells It All.” He is a highly-respected speaker and has appeared on numerous national media outlets, including CNN, ESPN, CBS, BET and more. Starting as a very poor student in high school, Dr. Watkins went on to become the Wall Street Outstanding Graduating Senior in Finance with a triple major in Finance, Economics and Business Management. He also went on to become the ONLY African American in the country to earn a PhD in Finance during the year 2002.
In his presentation, Dr. Watkins hits the following topics for students in a compelling way:
1) The five biggest mistakes college students can make
2) How to guarantee yourself a shot at a perfect GPA
3) The difference between failing and failure
4) The fast food model for academic success
5) Why you must always let your light shine
6) Five things your professors will never tell you
7) Getting your grades out of the toilet

“As expected, Dr. Watkins did a great job. He touched on numerous relevant topics, and kept the audience very involved and attentive.
